8 - Secure Rotary Encoder in 3D Printed Holder

Slip one end of the connector through the opening of the 3D Printed Device.  Use a pair of flush cut pliers to trim off a little tab on the topside of the rotary encoder (if you don't it won't sit correctly).  Secure it with the nut you previously removed and add the topper.  Test and ensure you can still press in the encoder.

Note: I found the channel of the topper to be a bit deep.  Use a hot glue gun and piece of plastic to plug the channel a bit and fine tune the fit as needed.
